Blown Yurts

“Blown yurts” are sculptural blown vases representing the traditional Mongolian living space. The design of this product is based on the fact that the direction of circulation within a yurt is ritualised, always around the central hearth.

This anecdote is compared with the mould blowing process of the glass industry where the blower creates his piece by rotating his blowpipe in a closed mould.

The user obtains an object that tells two stories and which noticeably retains an irregular area of glass at the top of the piece, which corresponds to a part that is usually thrown away and called the “cap”. This cap evokes a cloud of thick smoke rising above the yurt.
